Responsibilities:
1. Providing strategic leadership and direction to the Department of Civil Engineering, in alignment with the goals and priorities of the institution.
2. Overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in civil engineering, ensuring academic excellence and compliance with accreditation standards.
3. Leading faculty recruitment, development, and performance evaluation processes to maintain a high-caliber teaching and research faculty.
4. Promoting a culture of research and innovation within the department, fostering collaborations with industry partners, research institutions, and government agencies.
5. Managing departmental resources, including budgets, facilities, and equipment, to support teaching, research, and administrative activities effectively.
6. Fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment that values diversity, equity, and inclusion among students, faculty, and staff.
7. Representing the department and serving as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders, including academic committees, industry partners, and professional organizations.
8. Participating in institutional planning, policy development, and decision-making processes to contribute to the overall advancement of the college.
Qualifications:
· A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.
· Extensive academic and administrative experience, including a proven track record of leadership in higher education or research institutions.
· Expertise in one or more areas of civil engineering, with a strong record of scholarly publications, research grants, and professional recognition.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate faculty, students, and staff.
· Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans, manage resources, and foster collaboration and innovation within a diverse academic community.
· Commitment to upholding academic integrity, ethical conduct, and institutional values in all aspects of departmental operations.
