Works only with 600W HPS ballast and E 40 socket. Plant growth will be much more robust and large with large, compact flowers. The lamp is used both in the growth and in the flowering phase. I have owned this scale for several months now and have had no complains. It is quick to read when adding beans. I have really enjoyed having the built in stopwatch. Some reviews say they would rather have a timer, but I really haven't felt the need for one. I have found that it is accurate with .3-.5 grams which is entirely reasonable for the price and for my use, pour over. In case it wasn't obvious, I would not recommend this for pulling shots of espresso as it is rather large and less accurate than you would want. I find it funny when people think they are going to get an ultra accurate, precise scale at this price point. If you want something accurate, you will have to pay more for it, but for the person who wants to step up their coffee game from using volumetric measurements, this is a great deal.
