Cometic uses stainless steel for increased strength, its ability to rebound and resist corrosion. The outer layers of the gasket are embossed and coated on both sides with a Viton rubber material designed to meet the demands of a variety of harsh sealing environments, load conditions and surface finishes. 4 stars only because to actually screw it into the wall you need either an angled screw driver, which we had to go buy, or a really really short screwdriver as the one that came with it is just a tad to long. Also the mollies that come with it our cheap and would not hold up on regular dry wall, which we found out, thank goodness, before we finished hanging it. As we were hanging it the top pulled right out of the wall. We had heavy duty ones at home already and used those. The shelf was a breeze to actually put together and once we got past the trouble of hanging it, is wonderful and looks great. So, 1. buy a better screwdriver, and 2. get heavy duty mollies.
