This is a series that wears it's inspirations proudly on it's sleeve (mainly the early aughts toonami block) and isn't afraid to show how much it loves them. A Experience to Be Read

I bought the first issue when the series debuted but couldn't afford to continue. So I'm glad I found this volume 1 trade paperback. On first read, it has a few inspirations from Japanese manga from panel layouts to manga/anime character tropes. That being the case, it carves its own identity as a romance story between a normal orphan boy and a centuries old vampire and their daily lives in an alternate history USA. I like mash-up of different cultures from German and Japanese to Spanish and English including the music, the written languages, and other aspects. Nights has a vibe not everyone will like off bat, but I'll will vouch that anyone should give it a try.
